Astronomy Colloquium (2017 Fall Semester)

* Date
Nov 02
* Speaker
Christophe Pichon (IAP, France)
* Title
Connecting Large Scale Structures to Galaxy morphology
* Abstract

I investigate the impact of the cosmic web on the origin of the Hubble sequence. I  interpret galaxy evolution within the complex anisotropic 3D structure of the cosmic web, and find that filamentary flows feed the angular momentum of galaxies.
This is supported by observations, dark matter and hydrodynamical simulations and conditional tidal torque theory and excursion set theory.
