Welcome to the SNU Astronomy Program!
Welcome to the SNU Astronomy Program!
Astronomy is about stars, planets, black holes, galaxies, and other inhabitants of the universe that are continuously challenging our minds. Astronomy is not only one of the oldest sciences but also is very modern and active field of research. It is also the purest branch of sciences. We have inherited interesting stories about the universe from our ancestors. It is our responsibility to add new discoveries and transfer the expanded and deepened stories to our future generations. If you want to take part in this exciting and serious task, please apply for our Astronomy program. Every member of our program is waiting for talented and dedicated people like you!
The scientists of the SNU Astronomy Program are at the frontier of research on the origin and evolution of the universe. Currently, the Astronomy major comprises 12 faculty members, about 10 research scientists, and about 100 students in the undergraduate and graduate programs. Since its inception in 1958, Astronomy has been providing a world-class environment for research and education. Most of the undergraduates advance to our graduate program. Most PhD recipients from our program become professional astronomers working at universities and various research institutes.
