Astronomy Research Center
Introduction
Founded on 2020 September 11, Astronomy Research Center (ARC) is a subsidiary research center of the Research Institute of Basic Sciences of Seoul National University. ARC is established to bolster our efforts to understand the universe in multi-disciplinary ways, by bringing together researchers in Astronomy, Astrophysics, and Space Sciences on the SNU campus. Currently centered on 15 professors from the Department of Physics & Astronomy, Astronomy program, Physics program, and Department of Earth Science Education, ARC is located at the building 45 of SNU Gwanak-campus. ARC has been performing various research in astronomy and astrophysics, initiating and maintaining observational optical and radio observatories, and hosting seminars. It is currently the home of the small telescope network of Korea, and ARC has recently hosted the center for the gravitational-wave universe, a new government-funded large-scale research program.
